For a long time, I carried a deep shame around my trauma and the long shadow it cast. I ignored it, suppressed it, and convinced myself it meant I was the darkness—rather than the things that had happened to me.
And like so many of us do, that unexamined shadow showed up sideways:
poor boundaries, toxic relationships, numbing, overworking, and disconnecting from my own needs.
Over the years, through yoga, mindfulness, nervous system work, trauma mitigation, and teaching others, I learned how to befriend that darkness.
Not to erase it, bypass it, or battle it — but to embody it with enough safety and skill that I could finally look at the things that dimmed my light with clarity and power.
The winter solstice — the longest night of the year — has always been one of the most natural and supportive times for this kind of reflection. It’s where the season itself invites us inward.
So for the first time ever, I’m creating a Winter Solstice workbook called “Befriending Your Darkness”, accompanied by two live sessions:
Opening Call — December 7th at 7:00 pm EST
A guided welcome, grounding, and introduction to the workbook.
Winter Solstice Ritual — December 21st at EST
A closing practice to reflect on our journey and celebrate the Winter Solstice!
The cost for both calls + the workbook is $33.
This is not therapy.
This is self-directed reflection and inquiry, guided by the principles of mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and seasonal ritual. We’ll also meet as a group online for shared reflection and practice.
While everyone with trauma is welcome, you should be prepared to seek additional support if challenging emotions arise. I don’t anticipate that — we are practicing befriending, not plunging into overwhelm — but it’s important to know your own needs and to recognize that no one else (especially not me) is responsible for healing you.
Your healing is yours.
But other people, other practices, and other frameworks can help.
If you have questions, feel free to ask.
I’m really looking forward to sharing this journey through my favorite time of year with you.
